Sustainable Practices

We have considerably less carbon footprint than most conventional house building companies; our sustainable practices have less to do with the bottom-line and more to do with common sense.

Energy:

  • We use all wood scraps generated from timberframe and construction projects to heat our shop.
  • Our super-insulated office wing uses less than 40 gallons of propane to heat a year.
  • Our Shop is 100% Solar Powered with a grid inter-tie; over the course of the year we expect to use zero outside electricity from our utility.

Given these investments our goal is to preassemble projects in the shop as much as possible. We already pre-construct timberframes in our shop, we are ready to begin pre-fabricating wall and roof sections for client homes as well. This will further reduce our commuting costs and improve efficiency.

Resources:

  • We recycle all packaging and containers at our shop.
  • All our pine timbers and boards are locally grown and sawn on a portable sawmill.

Materials:

  • We use Stihl Eco Bar & Chain Oil in our chainsaws.
  • We use Non-petroleum based finishes on our woodwork, such as Land Ark, Vermont Natural Coatings, and Tried & True.
